After years of working in the Melbourne hospitality industry and an extremely harsh lock-down due to the pandemic, we decided to leave everything behind and start fresh somewhere along the Sunshine Coast, we were going to make a trip out of the move.
With a plan in place we rented a Juicy van, packed our lives into storage boxes and headed into the great wide world of Australia. Our idea was to be on the road for two months starting in Melbourne and heading up the east coast until we found a new home, easy as that. But, once we tasted freedom, we couldn’t stop.
That was it, a few months travel turned into an endless adventure touring the entire country, state by state. We returned the van and bought a 4WD (four wheel drive), a little Suzuki Jimny and some camping gear. We were finally living the home owners dream, 4 wheels and a tent, all ours and all mortgage free. Never thought we would have my own home outright and be debit free so young.
Covid had an upside. We never struggled to get a job. Our years of hard work in the hospitality industry had payed off and having a lot of experience meant that we were always in need and this meant financing our trip was easy, especially since the industry’s loosing a lot of it’s workforce. Australians don’t want to do it and all the backpackers went home. Working along the road meant that we were able to see each place from both the locals and tourists point of view. You really see it all when you stay in one stop to work.
We both have a strong creative backgrounds and actually have Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts, so it comes naturally to us to want to share these adventures with our friends and family in a creative way. That why we have created this blog and a special Postcard for each place we stayed that gives the viewers a small incite to real life Australia.
We started this blog one year into our trip to share all our experiences in the hopes to inspire the reader with their own trip. Who knows, maybe you to find your next holiday destination or be inspired to leave everything behind like we did. Whether you are wanting to travel long term yourself or just enjoying reading about our adventures, we would like to thank you for your support, it really means everything to us.
